Meowstic
The Constraint Pokemon

At two feet tall at full standing height, Meowstic is a fairly small Pokemon, shorter than even a human child. In its typically-quadrupedal stature, it appears even smaller. Like most Pokemon, though, its smaller size means nothing in regards to its power; Meowstic are able to hit their targets from a distance due to their psychic abilities, and their agility makes them confident hunters.

Their fur, though fluffy, is not very thick; Meowstic are not built for snowy climates, and are generally found in temperate areas. A desperate Meowstic family will settle anywhere, but they will struggle in areas without an ample supply of berries and small Pokemon. They prefer to settle in areas with trees; the territory does not have to be thickly forested, but trees provide cover, attract prey, grow berries, and have burrows that may serve as nests for the Meowstic who live there, making them valuable to have nearby.

Like many Pokemon, Meowstic are omnivorous; their diet of berries is interspersed with any Pokemon small enough to become their prey. Dedenne are commonly preyed upon, with a Meowstic able to use its long-distance psychic abilities to evade their electricity. Meowstic do not typically hunt Bug Pokemon, but a particularly hungry Meowstic will not be picky. Meowstic do not have to both hunt and forage, though; a diet of strictly berries or Pokemon will not harm them, though it is rare to actually see this in the wild.

When it comes to the berries they eat, each Meowstic, like most Pokemon, will have their own favorites, but most territories do not contain a wide variety of berries, and they will usually eat whatever is available. Typically, an Espurr's diet will consist almost entirely of berries unless its parents or evolved siblings bring it prey they hunted, as the instability of an Espurr's psychic energy leaves it unable to reliably hunt. As an Espurr grows older and gains more control, it will evolve into a Meowstic, which allows its diet to become as varied as its territory offers.

The eye-shaped organ on the underside of their ears is capable of sight, but differs from their primary eyes both due to their ability to detect aural activity in the environment and in their relative blurriness of sight. While the psychic organ's sight aids them in finding hidden prey or intruders in their territory, it cannot be used to reliably navigate terrain. Their primary vision is, in contrast, very sharp and sensitive to movement, and not much will escape a Meowstic's notice. Their psychic organ tends to share the same colors as their primary eyes, the colors of which vary based on the individual.

In Meowstic, the eyelid of this organ is often shut, opening when the Pokemon intends to use their psychic ability. When open, psychic energy will often leak into the environment, seen as a wispy, purple, smoke-like substance in the air; this is a Meowstic's way of releasing excess energy and regulating their internal state. (In Espurr, however, this psychic organ is unable to be closed, and when their ears open, psychic energy will often flow into their environment unprompted.) There are times when a Meowstic will extend their ears without opening the eyelids; this is meant as a warning to an opponent that they are able and willing to fight. To do this as a bluff would be dangerous for the Meowstic, since if an opponent takes them up on this offer to fight, it would be unable to defend itself. Thus, most times this stance is shown, it should be known that the Meowstic is serious.

Meowstic are family-oriented Pokemon, living in territories consisting of their immediate relatives. These territories do not have strict boundaries, often overlapping at the edges with other families', but a Meowstic wandering too deeply into another family's territory will incur hostility. It does still happen, however, and if two Meowstic pair up, they may decide to leave their home territories and find another. Greater hostility is almost always shown towards non-Meowstic outsiders who enter the territory. Larger Pokemon and humans will be chased off when possible, especially if the territory still contains Espurr.

Espurr are fiercely defended by a territory's residents until they evolve and are able to properly control their psychic abilities. While Espurr are very dangerous to stumble across for their lack of control and very concentrated psychic energy, they will exhaust their energy quickly when attacking, leading them to be defenseless if a battle carries on for too long. Approaching an Espurr while Meowstic are in the area is even more dangerous; a Meowstic will fight to the death to defend the Espurr under its care.
