The younger one of the Kaneiki brothers. He blindly idolizes Cai and believes that the world revolves around his older brother.

How Bel’s personality is perceived largely relies on who he is speaking to. When with Cai, he is mild-mannered and obedient, quiet but easily flustered when his brother is kind to him. He speaks very politely. He grows anxious when anything is wrong that concerns his brother, but is often confident that with his brother by his side, they can tackle any issue.

With Butterfly and several other NPCs in Paradise, however, Bel can be sharp-tongued and spiteful, threatening and yelling at whoever he feels is causing his brother any inconvenience. He knows more about the world than Cai, especially concerning adult and fan matters, and this causes him to be high-strung about protecting Cai from exposure to indecent things.

He tends to keep problems to himself, preferring to think about them on his own rather than let anyone else know that something is wrong, and this can lead him to spiral and lash out at others, unwilling to receive their help.

Bel lived in a cabin in the forest with Cai. The two built their home themselves, and lived their alone, without any parents. One day, as they were in the forest, Cai protected Bel from a meteorite and then vanished. Bel looked for him, but then only found him three days later, next to a massive door in the forest. Though Cai had no memory of him, their home, or even cutlery, as well as showing a change in how he spoke, Bel took care of him, thinking that he still must not be feeling well. At this point, Bel was already an esper, as his proximity to the meteor (God) and the fear he felt as it was flying towards him and his older brother triggered his abilities to awaken.

At some point when they were children, Bel reveals to Cai that his dream is to one day own a museum of treasures with his brother. This becomes one of Cai’s greatest personal treasures, and leads to Cai’s later fixation on gathering treasures of his own.

Before being sent to Paradise, Bel and Cai lived in a small apartment. Bel expanded it to look much larger on the inside, with multiple rooms, with his ability. The inner rooms resemble a museum, with various showcases for the treasures that he and Cai have stolen. They also have a piano, which Bel is able to play. They also own a purple car, which Cai is able to drive. They are notorious thieves, but no one has been able to capture them due to their skill and abilities. However, a member of the World Esper Organization approaches the police to help them temporarily nullify the brothers’ powers and send them to Paradise.

As Cai and the others travel through the recreation of God's world in the extra dungeon and see their memories, Bel thinks that God felt betrayed by their older brother.

After Cai leaves him behind in the World of Religion, Bel is distraught, seeing no way forward except to kill himself, because his pain would never end. God approaches him, saving him from death, and suggests that instead of killing himself, he instead kills what has been causing him pain this whole time: Cai.

Cai Kaneiki

Bel’s older brother. Cai is the most important person in the world to Bel, and being by his side is something that he fervently clings to for his stability. He is quick to agree to anything his brother wants, even if he privately deems it to be improper, and will violently threaten anyone who dares to speak badly about him. Bel sees his and Cai’s paths as one and the same; wherever Cai goes, he will follow. However, as he sees how strong Cai is, his faith in his own strength wavers, and he begins to dread that Cai will end up abandoning him.

Butterfly

Bel starts out hating Butterfly with a passion, often threatening to burn his wings off when he speaks casually to Cai or is otherwise loud and annoying. Cai, on the other hand, feels like Butterfly is a very good stimulus for Bel, who is otherwise meek; with no one else does he get so unrestrained and aggressive. Over time, Bel grows more attached to Butterfly, but he refuses to show it, threatening him whenever he teases Bel being tsundere. By the end, he grudgingly accepts Butterfly into their family, though refuses to consider him an older brother as well.

Wil

The first other younger brother Bel meets. The two of them bond over how much their older brothers mean to them, and Wil grows extremely attached to him, often calling him to play every time the party enters the throne room to speak with him and Rimm. When Rimm executes his plan to get rid of Cai and Bel for the threat they pose to the World of Siblings, Wil is quiet and conflicted; he does not want to hurt Bel, who has become important to him, but he also does not want to go against his brother. In the end, when Cai kills Rimm, Wil’s face as he cries over the death of his older brother is something that causes further instability for Bel, as he wonders if he would look the same way if Cai died.

Mysterious Fanboy

Bel’s real older brother. While Bel is stunned at the reality that who he knows as Cai has not been his real brother the whole time, he still wants to accept both Cais as his older brothers, even if they are different people, since he has fond memories of both of them and acknowledges times that both have saved him. He wants to get to know his original brother again, but the original Cai ends up sacrificing himself to save Bel and the others, accepting that Bel did not feel the same way about his wish to live alone with Bel in their own world at the expense of everyone else’s lives.

His name is based off of Abel from the Bible: アベル, aberu.
His favorite things are his older brother, reading, and playing piano.
He hates troublesome things and things that get in his brother’s way.
His favorite foods are vegetables, carbonated drinks, and everything his brother makes.
His least favorite foods are meat, alcohol, and carbohydrates.
In the 1st Anniversary Extra Game, Bel states that most food makes him feel sick, especially milk products. This could imply that he is lactose intolerant.
