A figure in a gray hoodie who spends all his time in his room. The door to his room is accessible from any world, so Cai and the others often visit. His room holds a record of subquest history and help, battle information, and information about Paradise.
Personality
He often comes off as lazy, not caring to clean up his somewhat-messy room and spending most of his time in his chair watching idol performances. He gives vague answers in response to questions posed to him, waving others’ concerns to the side and ignoring them.
His casual and careless speech covers up the immense melancholy he feels towards his situation, and while he usually hides it, his speech can be immensely biting and bitter.
Background + Story
After being struck by a meteorite when protecting Bel, Cai is taken by God to their world and used as the basis for the appearances of God and the Destroyer. Cai’s feet are used to create the Observer’s body, so his current body’s legs have no feet. He also has no organs, since they were used to create the Destroyer’s body. He is given the gift of Stillness by God, which allows him to continue existing in a state between life and death; if he exits his room, his time will tick forward again, which would result in his death.
Throughout the game, he is always in his room, complaining when the Destroyer and Bel always come in on their own. After they Destroy each world, he always gives them the mission to go back and retrieve the core of that world. While he stated that he was collecting the cores so that those worlds would be remembered, he was actually acting out against God, so that they could not retrieve the energy found in the souls of the cores.
He is later able to gain immense power, able to create a world of his own.
Relationships
Cai Kaneiki
His feelings towards Cai are complex. On one hand, he feels bitter that Cai has been able to spend his life with Bel when he himself can’t. He easily absorbs Cai into himself when trying to create a new world for himself and Bel. On the other hand, he has shown himself fully able to engage with Cai in a friendly manner, growing excited when the latter shows any interest in WHITE★knight and even offering to lend him a DVD when Cai says that he wants to watch it with Bel. They end up living peaceably together in the Secret Ending.
Bel Kaneiki
His younger brother. Bel is extremely important to him, and it is because he protected Bel from being hit by the meteorite containing God that he ended up locked in a room in Paradise. Having been ripped away from Bel for 15 years and kept in a constant state of near-death, he is desperate to create a world where he and Bel can live together. While having regarded Bel with resignation most of the game, having given up on any chance to be with him, gaining the power he needs during the Bonus Dungeon has him reveal everything to Bel, praying that he’ll accept his plea. In an ending where Bel rejects his ideals, he will ultimately be willing to give his life to protect what Bel wants, though with much sadness that he was never able to return to his side.
Butterfly
Butterfly always shows the most suspicion towards him, accusing him of hiding things and leaving him to protest and defend himself. Though he is shown in a short story to be able to view the world through Butterfly’s eyes if he wished, fully aware of his position as God’s tool, it is uncertain if he ever used this power more than once.
God
He is scornful and bitter towards God, as they were the one to upturn his entire life and trap him in a room. While he doesn’t retaliate against them, he is shown mocking them for their lack of understanding towards humanity in a short story, speaking casually and dismissively towards them without any concern.
